Nigerian music star Burna Boy has issued a series of strong responses following widespread criticism linked to incidents at several of his recent concerts.
The first wave of backlash came after he abruptly walked off stage during his Greater Lagos concert. Burna Boy later explained that a fan unexpectedly jumping on stage triggered his PTSD, noting that sudden movements toward him during performances make him highly uncomfortable. He emphasized that while he appreciates his fans, he expects them to respect his personal boundaries for safety.
He also faced criticism after announcing plans for a free concert in Burkina Faso, a move some people questioned or mocked. In response, Burna Boy defended his intentions, saying his decisions are driven by principle rather than personal gain. He expressed disappointment at the negativity directed toward him and made it clear he stands firmly by his choices.
In another controversial moment, Burna Boy responded to backlash after he had a couple removed from a show in Denver when one of them appeared to fall asleep during his performance. Addressing the issue in a livestream, he bluntly stated that he is “only looking for fans who have money at this period,” a comment that sparked even more debate online.
Despite the criticism, Burna Boy remains unapologetic. His responses signal that he intends to continue enforcing his boundaries and standing by his actions, even as mixed reactions from fans and observers continue.
