President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that Ugandan music superstar Eddy Kenzo (real name Edrisa Musuuza) hails from a military family. Speaking during a recent engagement, Museveni disclosed that Kenzo is the son of a soldier, highlighting the artist’s deep-rooted ties to Uganda’s armed forces.
The President commended Kenzo for his honesty and humility, qualities he said are rare but crucial in public life. Museveni noted that Kenzo’s upbringing under a disciplined background had clearly influenced his character and resilience, which have helped him rise to become one of Uganda’s most successful musicians.
“Eddy Kenzo’s father served in the army. That’s why you can see the discipline, hard work and honesty in him,” Museveni said. “He is a good example of how Ugandans from all backgrounds can use their talents to uplift themselves and their country.”

Kenzo, known for hit songs such as Sitya Loss and his international collaborations, has often spoken about his humble beginnings and his determination to succeed against the odds. Museveni’s praise further cements his status not only as a music icon but also as a role model for Uganda’s youth.
The revelation about Kenzo’s military roots has sparked renewed public interest in his personal story, with many Ugandans lauding his journey from a disadvantaged childhood to global stardom.
