Historic house owner in Edinburgh ordered to repaint pink door

She asserted that while the letter described her door as "bright pink," it is actually light pink.

A homeowner in Edinburgh has been given the option of paying a £20,000 fine or changing the color of her front door.
After receiving an anonymous complaint, the action was taken.

The door was “not in keeping with the historic character” of the listed structure, according to Edinburgh City Council.
The 48-year-old, who has already moved into the restored townhouse on Drummond Place, claimed that after receiving an enforcement notice, she was left feeling “extremely unhappy.”

She claimed that it came after the council informed her in writing that she needed to repaint her door a more appropriate shade that was to be “dark and muted.”

She asserted that while the letter described her door as “bright pink,” it is actually light pink.

“The letter instructed me to whitewash it, which goes against the guidelines of dark and muted, it’s ludicrous,” she said.
